Its excellent breathability performance allows a small part of water entering the insulation layer to be emitted to the environment in the form of water vapor so that the insulation layer can keep dry for a long time. A dry insulation layer can continuously exert insulation ability and reduce building energy consumption. With excellent windproof ability, Hypak™ can improve the air tightness of building envelope, reduce the heat loss caused by air thermal convection and further reduce building energy consumption.

How does Hypak™ work?

The waterproof and breathable Hypak™ membrane covers the top of the insulation. The material itself is hydrophobic and is an excellent waterproof layer. It can isolate the condensation formed on the inner surface of the upper metal cover from invading the insulation. Hypak™'s excellent breathability allows the small amount of water in the insulation to disperse outwards in the form of vapor, keeping the insulation dry over an extended period for sustained thermal insulation and reduced energy consumption in buildings. At the same time, Hypak™'s great windproof performance improves the airtightness of the building envelope and reduces the heat loss caused by air convection, which further cuts energy consumption.

Metal structure buildings have numerous advantages, including environmental protection, energy saving, and high efficiency, making them a popular choice for modern industrial buildings. However, there’s rapid temperature transfer in metal structures. The water vapor pressure difference generated by the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor can easily cause the water vapor on the high-temperature side to condense on the surface of the colder metal structure, leading to the accumulation of condensate within the envelope and insulation layer. This can result in rust, corrosion, and a significant reduction in insulation effectiveness over time. Therefore, the envelope system of metal structure buildings should have strong vapor barrier and water repellency for preventing condensation, as well as air permeability and windproof measures.
